Dr. Katherine L. Muller is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dr. Muller received dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from Douglass College of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. She graduated with her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. She then completed two years of advanced training at the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety, which included extensive specialized training in CBT for Posttraumatic Stress and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders.

 

Before founding VCCBT in 2013, Dr. Muller served as the Associate Director of a large psychotherapy practice in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to the Lehigh Valley area, she was the Director of Psychology Training at Montefiore Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. As an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at this site, she established and directed the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Program at Montefiore for 7 years, providing cutting-edge psychotherapy interventions for individuals with anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric disorders. Dr. Muller has conducted training workshops on a number of topics including Exposure Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Prolonged Exposure for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression. She has also supervised students from a number of psychology graduate programs in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

 

Dr. Muller was the recipient of the prestigious American Psychological Association Psychotherapy Foundation Early Career Psychologist Award in 2009. She is board-certified in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. Muller has authored a number of journal articles and book chapters and presented on topics such as Stress, Depression, Anxiety Disorders, and Obesity. She is a founding fellow of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association and an active member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She has been featured as an expert in national media outlets including ABC News, The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, The Wall Street Journal, Woman’s Day magazine, Self magazine, and Details Magazine.
